Season 7 of Dance Moms was highly anticipated after the dramatic exit of Abby Lee Miller in Season 6. Lifetime decided to continue the show without Abby, bringing in Dancing with the Stars’ Cheryl Burke and former ALDC instructor Laurieann Gibson as the new dance coaches.
The season began with some of the familiar faces from previous seasons, including stalwarts Holly, Jill, and Melissa with their daughters Nia, Kendall, and the Ziegler sisters.

Since LMN is a new channel, they likely want to keep the latest season exclusive to their network for now to try and gain more viewers and subscribers.
Once Season 7 has aired in full, there’s a good chance LMN will license the rights to Hulu and other streaming services.
2. Dance Moms’ ratings have been declining over the seasons.
While still popular, the show isn’t pulling in as big of an audience as it once did. By keeping Season 7 exclusive to their channel, LMN hopes to draw more viewers back to the show and boost ratings.
If ratings rebound, LMN can likely demand a higher licensing fee from Hulu and others to stream the new season.
3. contract issues between the networks and streaming services
There are many legal and financial details to work out regarding licensing, exclusivity windows, and how long a season remains solely on a network before streaming is allowed. Unfortunately, as fans this is out of our control!

The most dedicated fans may want to simply tune into new episodes live on Lifetime. You can’t binge, but you join the social media buzz without spoilers. Lifetime also airs reruns before new seasons so you remember what happened.
